Dominik Graf relocates the story of the same name by Henry James from the 19th century to
the year 2001. It´s the story of an A level student Gregor, who, whilst studying at a Bavarian
public school, meets the promiscuous and rakish Arthur. Both boys are bound by a deep
friendship until Gregor meets the equality beautiful and mysterious Billie. Billie und Arthur
have one thing in common. They have both, independently from one another, experienced
inexplicable encounters with the afterlife.
A meeting between Billie and Arthur continually fails and the reasons for this are weird.
Eventually, Billie disappears and Gregor doesn´t see her again until months later in Munich
where he is now living with Arthur.
Gregor and Billie become a couple and Gregor grows afraid that he will lose Billie a second time,
while Arthur seems to drift towards a life of crime. Gregor suddenly realises that Arthur and Billie
are meant for one another and does everything in his power to stop them meeting.
